Promises
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. . .
We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not to for ourselves.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 83-84

Thought to Ponder . . .

Terry here, a grateful alcoholic.  Embracing uncertainty isn't where I have yet arrived but I am learning to distinquish between expectations and promises.  I know that throughout the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous there are Promises for every Step.  It doesn't say I will win the lottery, but it does say I can be restored to sanity.  My Higher Power and this program have given me a choice over taking a first drink.  I don't know what the outcome of doing "the next right thing" will be, but I am finding that the more I pay attention to doing so, the happier I am.  More gets revealed.  And I am starting to know the meaning of the word Serenity and to know peace .. that part isn't uncertain; I see it in my life and in the lives of people around me.  Sometimes I just stick around until more is revealed.  So far, today, it works.  Thanks.
