The Big Book
In this book you read again and again that faith did for us what we could not do for ourselves.
We hope you are convinced now that God can remove whatever self-will has blocked you off from Him.
If you have already made a decision, and an inventory of your grosser handicaps, you have made a good beginning.
That being so you have swallowed and digested some big chunks of truth about yourself.

I'm BobbieJo, and I'm an alcoholic. When I first came into AA, my local group read from Chapter Five, and I thought for the longest time that all I needed to know was in Chapter 5. I looked at our book Alcoholics Anonymous, or as we call it, the 'Big Book' .. "Bill's Story" .. pffft! Done by some old man. "There is a Solution" .. ok, but darn! No pictures. "More About Alcoholism" went right over my head. Do you see where this is going? I skipped over it all! This book is my owner's manual and I have to read it. I need to be able to 'relate to it' as well, and the longer I stayed, the more I could relate and understand. So, if you're new here and have no idea what's going on, well, that's ok too. I hope that you do one thing: Keep coming back, and just maybe, like it did for me, you'll get it and understand, and will live a sober life like me.
