Unity
The unity of AA is the most cherished quality our Society has.
Our lives, the lives of all to come, depend squarely upon it.
Without unity, the heart of AA would cease to beat.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 129

Thought to Ponder . . .
There is no strength without unity.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

I'm Jim, an alcoholic from Ohio.  My first brush with AA unity came very early.  I knew nothing abut AA.  I had staggered into a meeting, no rehab, just could not stop drinking, and was desperate.  After a couple of meetings, and my hand was not shaking when I drank coffee, someone suggested I try another meeting in addition to the one I was going to.  I was amazed that someone would send me to the competition.  Business did not do that, churches did not, and clubs did not.  But here these people were willing to let me see what happened at another meeting besides their own.  Nothing I had ever seen was like this!  It was so different 30 years ago that I've stayed ever since.
