Faith
To me, this means a belief in a Creator who is all power, justice, and love;
a God who intends for me a purpose, a meaning, and a destiny to grow,
however little and haltingly, toward His own likeness and image.
Before the coming of faith
I had lived as an alien in a cosmos that too often seemed both hostile and cruel.
In it, there could be no inner security for me.
- As Bill Sees It, p. 51
Thought to Ponder . . .
People of faith have a logical idea of what life is all about.

I'm Steve, an alcoholic. For years, my God was booze. I rejected God and religion at a young age. I felt I could never live up to the religious folks' standards, so why bother? I'd do it my way. I knew right from wrong, but my default was to do it the wrong way like I was powerless to overcome my defects even before I drank. At times, the only thing that saved me was the ability to b/s my way out of trouble until, in the end, I couldn't think straight and couldn't manage my life. I was screwed. I ended up at AA as desperate as the dying can be. Amazingly, I arrived at my first meeting 42 days off the drink knowing I needed to change, but no idea how I was going to do it. I had an idea that AA's way worked better than mine, so it was simple blind faith that what AA had would work for me if I applied myself. Unbeknown to me at the time, I had taken Step Three.
