Acceptance
And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. . .
Until I could accept my alcoholism, I could not stay sober;
unless I accept life completely on life's terms, I cannot be happy.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 417
Thought to Ponder . . .
My serenity is directly proportional to my level of acceptance.
AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

My name is Deb, a grateful alcoholic. "Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today." I have been in AA for 21 years, but drunk for 16 and a half of them. I had 5 years sober and for the last 12 and half years been relapsing on and off. I need to accept defeat from alcohol, accept a Power greater than myself, and accept that Power's help. I need to accept that I cannot not do this alone anymore despite my physical disabilities and fear. I have to learn to open up and accept help from others. I have found it here online. I have found acceptance from others because they have been where I have been, or are going through it now. Once I accept my program and myself, anything is possible. I am so grateful that I can accept my new life sober and the difficult times that make me stronger. Thanks for letting me share.
