Step Four
"Made a searching and fearless inventory of ourselves."
Step Four is our vigorous and painstaking effort to discover
what these liabilities in each of us have been, and are. . .
Without a willing and persistent effort to do this,
there can be little sobriety or contentment for us.
- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, pp. 42-43
Thought to Ponder . . .
I am responsible for the effort -- not the outcome.
AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
W H O = Willingness, Honesty, Open-mindedness.

I'm BobbieJo and I'm an alcoholic. Somewhere in that reading it says the word "willing." I came into AA in August and did not become willing until April/May-ish to take Step Four. Needless to say, I was a mess. That comment about fear and pride were true. I didn't not want to look at my truth. It took what it took, that, and my second write-up at work. How dare they? After all, I was not drinking -- what else did anyone want? Simple, all of me -- the good and the bad. And when I could accept that, I became willing and got busy with my first Step Four. That's my deal. How willing was I? And it's still here today. I just don't drag my feet too long these days. Thanks.
