Higher Power
Walk day by day in the path of spiritual progress. If you persist, remarkable things will happen.
When we look back, we realize that the things which came to us when we put ourselves in God's hands
were better that anything we could have planned.
Follow the dictates of a Higher Power and you will presently live in a new and wonderful world,
no matter your present circumstances.

Good morning. Welcome to our new online friends. I'm Charlie J. and I have Alcoholism. When new, I entrusted my recovery to my sponsor who at the time had 10 years, 'sober.' Big mistake! Lesson #1. I asked my last sponsor about 10 years ago if he thought he'd had a Spiritual Awakening. He said he didn't know. Trust me, he was doing the best he could. And I still love him. But the point is that it was Lesson #2. The lesson was that only then did I understand why Alcoholics Anonymous teaches the need for a Higher Power/God. That although I still need others to help me every day as do we all, I needed something bigger then myself and my sober friends. My search for a God/Higher Power through the application of the Twelve Steps led me to my belief. It's simple, sure, but I don't have a need for a complicated Higher Power. If you're new and can't understand why this topic is so vitally important, keep coming, as this topic is the single most important topic there is as it is the solution Alcoholics Anonymous offers. Thank you.
