Freedom
We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.
We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.
We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, pp. 83-84

Thought to Ponder . . .
Serenity isn't freedom from the storm; it is peace within the storm.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

I'm Bobbie Jo, and I'm an alcoholic.  I surely feel free tonight.  If I were to drink, I'd be in jail in more ways than one.  I don't want to get locked up in the drunken world that I left a few years ago.  In sobriety, I get to belong to my family and to my friends.  I get the freedom to feel happy, sad, and everything else.  I used to drink to avoid people and all those feelings.  The good news is that I never have to drink again.  I'm blessed to have listened to the old timers who told me that.  For those who don't know, my son died 2 weeks ago.  I had the freedom to live through it booze-free.  Thanks to God, AA, the Steps, my cell phone and sponsor on the other end, and a new bunch of friends I met too, AA is everywhere.  That's all I have, so blessed and grateful.
