Willingness
A beginning, even the smallest, is all that is needed.
Once we have placed the key of willingness in the lock and have the door ever so slightly open,
we find that we can always open it some more.
Though self-will may slam it shut again, as it frequently does,
it will always respond to moment we again pick up the key of willingness.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 35

Thought to Ponder . . .
What have I been given today?  Am I willing to reach out and grasp it?

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
H O W = Honesty, Open-mindedness, Willingness.

Hi family, I'm BobbieJo, and I am an alcoholic.  Was I willing to admit to being alcoholic?  Yes, I still am, and will always be.  Have I been willing to ask for help?  Yes, it's not easy, but it's necessary.  Am I willing to admit that I cannot do it all?  Yes, and that's not easy, either.  This thing called Life seems to be "not easy."  But there is One who makes it easier, and that's the God of my understanding.  I love that AA teaches me that I'm not alone.  And I'm not alone for two reasons: I have a God of my understanding, and I have an AA family who does understand me.  I'm grateful to have been part of, and willing to listen when others said I'd not have to drink again over, through, or about anyone or anything.  I'm willing to say you're right, I'm wrong, I need help.  I can't do it all.  Yes, I'll get to meetings and even more so, and willing to take Twelve Steps.  So far today, I'm good.  Thanks for being here.
