Control
We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn't control our emotional natures,
we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn't make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness,
we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn't seem to be of real help to other people --
was not a basic solution of these bedevilments more important than whether we should see newsreels of lunar flight?
Of course it was.

Thought to Ponder . . .
If I always do what I've always done, I'll always get what I've always got.

My name is Jackie, and I am an alcoholic. Unlike many of us, I did not have any problems with controlling others. Mostly the problem was no self-esteem, which led to other people controlling me. I also believed in a Higher Power, but I believed He was too busy with the rest of the universe to even notice me. So I proceeded to just sort of plod through life, not really expecting anything from anybody, except my friend alcohol, who was a great anaesthetic. I thought that was for me. Anyway, AA led me to a Higher Power who is never too busy. And who really does care. But enough from me. Thank you.
