Turning Point
Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point.
We asked His protection and care with complete abandon.

Hi, I'm Peter, and I'm an alcoholic. That's a great passage. Really is true at least for me. It's definitely a process to get to where we want to get to in life. First, I did what they said to do in AA because I had to. I didn't want to drink any more and would do anything you guys said to do to get to that point. Then I started following what we do in here in AA. It was just the right thing for me to do to stay sober, and it made sense with my track record. Now, I do these things because I like where I am today, and how much better my life is. Those things I learned by going to meetings, having a sponsor, and working the Twelve Steps really taught me a new way of life, which I always wanted but never had because I was way too wrapped up in drinking and using. But little by slow, my life's changed. I'm 62 now, and I'm a late bloomer. I have a five-year-old son, a great wife, and a nice life. I've been through a lot of ups and downs sober, and I wouldn't change a thing. And that's pretty good because if left to my own thinking, I'd change everything. I've learned to slow down and take things as they come most days. I live and get to another day to do what I need to do and, most importantly, to not drink or use for today. It's amazing! I can complicate a piece of string, but today's pretty good and I'm grateful for that. If you're new or coming back, yes, it takes time to get used to your new shoes but believe me, it's been worth it. Thanks.
