Dealing With Defects
If we ask, God will certainly forgive our derelictions.  But in no case does He render us white as snow
and keep us that way without our cooperation.
That is something we are supposed to be willing to work toward ourselves.
He asks that we try as best we know how to make progress in the building of character.

- Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, p. 65

Thought to Ponder . . .
If I want God to remove my character defects, I'll have to stop doing them.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

= Honesty, Open-mindedness, Willingness.

Hi everyone, I am Kevin, an alcoholic and a member of AA.  Sometimes, l feel that l live in a constant state of Steps Six and Seven, always taking those crazy character defects out of my toy box to play with.  Just the other day l noticed that l was playing with a few.  Identifying sometimes can be a challenge, but l soon did so through prayer and meditation.  Once l realized that my character defects were complicating my life, l was ready to have God remove these defects and then humbly asked Him to remove them.  The next day l woke up feeling oh! so much better and willing to do the next right thing.  The feeling of serenity returned.  Thanks so much for letting me share with you and showing me this truly does work.
