Hi everyone, I am Tim, an alcoholic.  When I found AA, my primary purpose was getting sober.  I wanted an elevator ride to the top.  I was lazy for so many years but I had to take the Steps like everyone else because there is no fast way to the top in AA.  But something happened along the way...I found my God.  I found a way to live life today sober and spiritually fit.  When I got here, my life was about doing things in my will.  It didn't work.  As I said, coming in, my primary purpose was getting sober.  Today it is different for me.  It is maintaining my sobriety by staying spiritually fit with my God daily.  My primary purpose today is living my God's will and not mine.  In return I find the strength to resist the first drink.  And as I carry His will to others and try to pass on my experience, strength, and hope, then it comes back to me ten-fold.  It builds my faith and strength in my program from the blessing my God gives me.  Today, my primary purpose is keeping daily contact with my God through daily prayer, do my best to carry out His will, not mine, helping others whenever I can, and being thankful for each day He grants me to live His will and stay sober.  Thanks.
