Resentment
But with the alcoholic, whose hope is the maintenance and growth of a spiritual experience,
this business of resentment is infinitely grave.  We found that it is fatal.
For when harboring such feelings we shut ourselves off from the sunlight of the spirit.
The insanity of alcohol returns and we drink again.  And with us, to drink is to die.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 66

Thought to Ponder . . .
We are prisoners of our own resentments.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .
A A
= Attitude Adjustment.

Thank you, fellow survivors...I'm Linrose, an alcoholic.  Good to be among the living sober set today.  During most of my first miraculous sober days and months, I told everyone that my mother had driven me to drink.  And finally, your shares, my sponsor, and a significant oldtimer broke through that dangerous thinking.  The oldtimer said, "You have to let her off the hook, not because she deserves it, but because you do."  And so as AA at the center stage it took in my new life.  It changed my attitude and outlook.  I began to make living amends to her for trying to kill the child she loved.  And so it goes; as the program is my primary focus, other resentments are less likely to interfere with the life of freedom that has been given to me.  When Mother died of alcoholism when I was 7 years sober, I mourned her loss and showed up sober to her memorial service a free woman today, due to your examples.  Thank you.
