Ask for Help

Reach out—people can’t read your mind.
Say ouch! Someone hears.  Always.
- The Best of the Grapevine [Vol. 1], p. 85

Thought to Ponder . . .
Simply asking for help seems to be a help in itself.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

I'm Bill, an alcoholic who needs God and others to stay sober.  I acquired the idea somewhere along the way that working a good program means that I am always OK, not needing help.  I'd like to think I have a good program, and I stay away from the first drink, but now, the rest of the story—I am still a human being with emotions and limitations.  And sometimes I don't see everything or know everything.  So I do need help, and sometimes I feel shaky (difficult to admit).  I don't like looking weak.  But aren’t we all weak at times?  And this weakness has brought us together and given me a desire for God's presence and comfort.  Sometimes the best help is someone else being there and saying that everything will be all right.  I enjoy being in the presence of those who love me; I feel stronger, like I can keep on keepin' on.  Which is the point: to stay sober and help others, to be able to say I understand.  So don't let me out of your prayers, because I need every one of them.  No guarantees, but I think I can stay sober today with your and God’s help.  Thanks for listening everyone.  Stay sober.
