Solid Ground

But be sure you are on solid spiritual ground before you start and that your motive
in going is thoroughly good. Do not think of what you will get out of the occasion.
Think of what you can bring to it. But if you are shaky, you had better work with
another alcoholic instead!
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p 102

Thought to Ponder . . .
A spiritual awakening is our greatest gift.

Hello everyone.  I'm Charlie J. I have Alcoholism.  The reading sure does clear up all the misinformation I have heard for a very long time at meetings.  "Change people, places and things."  It's good to know the facts of A.A. recovery from the fiction.  And it also gives clear instructions on how to be with, "people, places and things" and not get drunk as a result.  It's simple and in no way complicated.  And when there maybe times we are not up to the task of being with, "people, places and things", it explains what to do.  I have had many times I have been what I call, less then sober in my thinking.  Work with another Alcoholic.  Again it's simple yet it's almost never shared about in meetings.  By working through the Steps we gain a freedom from Alcohol.  As stated in the Big Book, "The problem is removed."  The problem either is or isn't removed, depending on whether or not we have fully recovered from Alcoholism.  Or if we have had the spiritual awakening as a result of the Steps.  Thank you.
