Recovered

You may already have asked yourself why it is that all of us became so very ill from drinking.
Doubtless you are curious to discover how and why, in the face of expert opinion to the contrary,
we have recovered from a hopeless condition of mind and body.  If you are an alcoholic who wants
to get over it, you may already be asking—"What do I have to do?"  It is the purpose of this book
to answer such questions specifically. We shall tell you what we have done.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, p 20

Thought to Ponder . . .
Sobriety is the adventure of a lifetime. And it begins the moment we ask AA for help.

AA-related 'Alconym' . . .

Hello everyone. I'm Charlie J.  I have Alcoholism. I am glad to be here with you all welcome to our new friends.  Program?  I never knew A.A. had a program the first time I came to A.A. in 1985.  No wonder, I never listened to a word being shared! I never had any intention of staying stopped at that time.  "I'll show you!"  That was my only intention back then. Sadly no one cared back then if I did show them.  My second time to A.A. in 1989, (and I pray my last trip,) I had hit bottom with my drinking and my life.  My intention then?  "Can you show me how to stay stopped?"  The book, Alcoholics Anonymous and my sober A.A. friends did that very thing.  I found that A.A. offered a simple plan for recovering from Alcoholism and a good thing it was simple.  I was very sick and if it was complicated I would still be drinking.  If you are new I suggest you read the book with the program of A.A. and the instructions in it, Alcoholics Anonymous, and join us in recovery from Alcoholism.  Sure meetings and a sponsor can be helpful tools.  I have had sponsors I came to love and have attended countless A.A. meetings.  They can not bring about the spiritual experience needed to recover 100% from alcoholism as laid our in the Steps.  There are no short cuts and A.A. offers only one program of recovery.  So what do I do now? All the very same things I did when I came back to A.A. the second time. Thank you.
