A Lifetime Process

We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn’t control our emotional natures,
we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn’t make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness,
we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn’t seem to be of real help to other people. . .

Hi everyone, Craig an Alkie.  When I first joined AA, I had no idea it was gonna be a life long process.  It was not till about a year into AA that I started to realize this was going to be a process.  A lifetime process.  Back then, I started getting a basic routine down.  I would wake up, say my Prayers to my Higher Power who I choose to call God.  Thinking about the upcoming day, I would make a list in my head of the activities I was going to do for today.  Call my sponsor sometime today, where and when are there AA meetings?  I would go to from 1 to 5 AA meetings a day.  I also by this time had gotten rid of all my buddies that I drank with.  Actually it was in the first couple of months, that I realized I had to get rid of ALL my drinking buddies and their phone numbers on my beeper.  I actually had trouble deleting their numbers, but I could not delete the names of my drinking buddies, so I ended up throwing my beeper away.  LOL  Saying my prayers in the morning and meditating.  I'm not too good at meditation, but as the reading says, it's a life long process.  I say prayers through out the day, and also praising and thanking my Higher Power who I choose to call God throughout the day.  At night I say my night-time or bedtime prayers.  In the beginning, I would get on my knees to pray, in the morning and at night.  Today after several years, I have had 2 back surgeries and my knees are going bad.  My Higher power lets me lay down to pray.  If your back is going bad and/or your knees are about shot, if that's holding you back from praying, I suggest that you continue to pray but laying down.  If I could get on my knees for a period of time to pray, I would, but I can't.  That does not stop me from praying in the morning and at night.
