Certain Steps
Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened,
and what we are like now.  If you have decided you want what we have and are
willing to go to any length to get it—then you are ready to take certain steps.

I'm Erin, I'm an alcoholic.  When I first got sober I was so ready to take certain steps.  I was pretty much ready to do anything to stop drinking.  I really wanted some peace of mind.  I did what I was told and life got better.  It got so good I sort of dropped off the AA map.  I didn't drink. but I got pretty close.  Last June my little cousin celebrated 90 days, went out and died.  It was a huge wake up call to me.  I started to make the annoying trip to Shanghai again.  But instead of once a month I go every other weekend.  I got a sponsor there, and started the steps again.  It has been truly amazing.  Read the book, take the action.  And I've seen a pretty big change in my attitude again.  The cool thing about AA is that I get to decide my level of involvement.  My life can be as crappy or as good as I choose.  If I work the steps, I have the tools to face life when it doesn't do what I want.  When I stopped working the steps or living them rather....I didn't have tools to face life.  Thanks for being here and teaching me a better way to live.
