Three Pertinent Ideas
Our description of the alcoholic, the chapter to the agnostic, and our
personal adventures before and after make clear three pertinent ideas:
(a) That we were alcoholic and could not manage our own lives.
(b) That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism.
(c) That God could and would if He were sought.
- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 60
Thought to Ponder
I can't, God can, I'll ask Him to.

Hello everyone. I'm Charlie J. I have Alcoholism. Oddly enough there are many, 'warnings' in black and white in the book, Alcoholics Anonymous. These warnings cover just about every road block, self-imposed or not that can get in the way of our recovery. Finding these warnings, believing that they are in the Big Book, not by mistake or as a scare tactic but because it was the personal experience of many of the people involved in writing and editing the Big Book. Because working to adhere to these warnings work! They are in the Book with a hope that they can spare another Alcoholic from dying an Alcoholic death. These warnings are not theories, any more then the 12 Steps, 'might' work. But, here is the catch. No one in all of A.A. has the power to make anyone do anything, like study the text book, Alcoholics Anonymous. No sponsor can get anyone sober or keep them that way. No amount of meetings can get anyone sober and keep them that way. "God could and would if sought." Thanks.
