Acceptance
We learned that we had to fully concede to our innermost
selves that we were alcoholics. This is the first step in recovery.
The delusion that we are like other people, or presently may be,
has to be smashed. We alcoholics are men and women who
have lost the ability to control our drinking. We know that no
real alcoholic ever recovers control.

Hi, my name is Eloise and I am an Alcoholic. I don‘t think that acceptance that I am an alkie would have ever have come for me if my rock bottom had not been so bad. That last drunk of all drunks just about killed me. I knew then that I was Alcoholic, and complete acceptance of this fact came with that. But I had to also accept that I then had to accept the 'AA Way of Life' when I got here. To become disciplined and I had to be totally willing to go to any lengths and do all that's suggested. Get to those meetings, pray, go through the Steps with a sponsor. And it's not one foot in and the other foot out. It really has to be all or nothing. I had to have total acceptance and I do believe that was by the 'grace of God' for me. Acceptance keeps me sober and gives me peace, and I can pass the AA message onto others. Thank you for listening.
