A Daily Reprieve
It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our
laurels. We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle
foe. We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is a daily
reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (Into Action) p. 85

Thought to Ponder
We will suddenly realize that God is doing
for us what we could not do for ourselves.

Paul, alcoholic. Reality is that I am not the same person I was when I came to AA. The steps have transformed me into a person I have always desired to be. And they have redirected my attention to others rather than self. I was told early on to do my best when applying the steps to my life, and at the same time to keep practicing them since I never will do them perfectly. So that is what I do. Today I have a stronger understanding of God and what he desires for me to do. I realize I am sober because of his grace and not of my own power. On the 18th of this month it will be 46 years since my last drink and I know it was God who relieved me of the craving. I choose to celebrate my time in AA as my true sobriety date which will be 30 yrs in November. Reason being I learned here that I cannot do it on my own, that I need all of you to help me and that I need to keep working the steps. Thank you.
