Lost the Power of Choice
He has lost control. At a certain point in the drinking of every alcoholic
he passes into a state where the most powerful desire to stop drinking
is of absolutely no avail. This tragic situation has already arrived in
practically every case long before it is suspected. The fact is that most
alcoholics, for reasons yet obscure, have lost the power of choice in drink
.

Thought to Ponder
When we try to control our drinking, we have already lost control.

Morning all and thanks so very much. Susan, very grateful recovered alcoholic by Grace. Over the years I have met many who tell me that God has granted them the power to choose. Something in my gut said, nope, that is not my experience. I dug deep to see this. Why would I believe in any Power that is going to give me the power to choose to kill myself? That was just one thought in relation to this. Then, I saw it right there in our Big Book. The problem in this case, has been removed. I don't have to choose it, it just disappears. Obsession gone and haven't seen it in years. Perhaps the most important aspect of this whole deal. Do I have choice or not? And that is not just in relation to booze. That's a whole other story though. Thanks all. Continued Grace and growth.
