A Common Solution
The feeling of having shared in a common peril is one element in the powerful
cement which binds us. But that in itself would never have held us together as
we are now joined. The tremendous fact for every one of us is that we have
discovered a common solution. We have a way out on which we can absolutely
agree, and upon which we can join in brotherly and harmonious action.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (There Is A Solution) p. 17

Thought to Ponder
Together we can do what we could never do alone.

I am Eddy and I am an alcoholic. It was my wife and legal issues that set me on this course. And what a blessed course it is. I don't have the old desperation anymore as the obsession leaves as we work the program. In its' place is an entire group of people just like me coming together for the same reason. No, it's not just to keep the obsession at bay. We have all seen the perils of alcoholism and the lasting effects it can have on us, our families, our jobs and on society. We come together under that white flag of surrender and share the experience, strength and hope with one another. I hear stories every meeting, even when people aren't sharing for a bit, and I walk away satisfied and complete. Knowing that I'm trudging through my day the same as so many and that I'm never alone. It's reassuring. We carry the message as a unit or a body with many parts and it takes the whole to do so. Really when I think about our group here and AA as a whole I am blown away by it all. Such a simple program with so much to offer. A blessing from above if I might say so. Thanks for being here each day and for trudging through the journey with me and with each other.
