Recovered
WE, OF Alcoholics Anonymous, are more than one hundred men
and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state
of mind and body. To show other alcoholics precisely how we have
recovered
is the main purpose of this book.

Evening all. Thomas, a sober alcoholic. Been hearing the debate of recovered versus recovering for several decades. I see it this way. Yes, I have recovered from active alcoholism. I had my last drink October 22, 1976, haven't gone back. Unlike other illnesses I can recover from, the flu etc. I might get ill again, but it won't be because I drank. I'll only get the active alcoholism back if I start drinking again. Recovered doesn't mean cured. I repeat, recovered does not mean cured. So the next thing to do is follow the program, learn to live a sober life. And if there's any questions as to that, there's a promise between steps 10 and 11 that says it is no longer a problem. Not been cured, just that the problem has been removed. And it's not me doing that. Whatever the Higher Power is has taken the problem from me. All I need do is focus on living a sober life.
