Fearless and Thorough
If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to
any length to get it—then you are ready to take certain steps. At some
of these we balked. We thought we could find an easier, softer way.
But we could not. With all the earnestness at our command, we beg
of you to be fearless and thorough from the very start.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (How It Works) p. 58

Thought to Ponder
What have I been given today?
Am I willing to reach out and grasp it?

Chris, grateful alcoholic. Became willing stood out for me. Alcohol had beaten me into a state of reasonableness. I wanted the pain to stop! God sent me a sponsor, when he said "jump" I said "How high?" As I worked through the steps I became willing to follow your suggestions. As I began to live life on God's terms, the pain subsided. As my sponsor and the fellowship showed me how to clear away the wreckage of the past, honesty was a biggy. I had to look at me and my behaviors that led to such a shipwreck. You put those spiritual tools at my feet and for that I am grateful. The 10th step helps me to stay in check and whenever those defects flare up I ask God's help, make amends if need be and do the next right thing. And sometimes I need your help with whatever that is. Thanks for the program!
