Step Six
If we can answer to our satisfaction, we then look at Step Six. We have emphasized
willingness as being indispensable. Are we now ready to let God remove from us all the
things which we have admitted are objectionable? Can He now take them all—every one?
If we still cling to something we will not let go, we ask God to help us be willing.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 76

Thought to Ponder
What have I been given today? Am I willing to reach out and grasp it?

Susan here, very grateful recovered alcoholic by God's Grace. Two short paragraphs in the Big Book on Steps 6 and 7, and perhaps the most important two from my perspective and experience. Here the shifts begins in asking God to fix me at a deeper level, as I learned that I can't fix myself, or at least not to the extent that it will stick. (laugh) Here also, I started getting more out of the "I" that I had lived it for so long. With God's help, I have changed from a person who wanted to die to someone who now has a reason and purpose. Never dreamed that could happen. However, most significant to understand for me was don't stop at Step 7. Keep moving forward with the Steps as there is still far more freedom to come. Blessings all, and thanks again.
