Precisely How We Have Recovered
We, of Alcoholics Anonymous, are more than one hundred men and
women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind
and body. To show other alcoholics precisely how we have recovered
is the main purpose of this book. For them, we hope these pages will
prove so convincing that no further authentication will be necessary.

- Alcoholics Anonymous, (Foreward To First Edition) p. xiii

Thought to Ponder
Further on, clear-cut directions are given showing how we recovered.

Morning all and thanks so very much. Special welcome to new folks. Susan, very grateful recovered alcoholic by Grace. I discovered the hard way that a person can arrive in AA, sit in the rooms and get sicker. Meetings are marvelous. I love them. But they are not the solution. The solution is ultimately discovered through working the Steps from the Big Book. I like to be clear about that. I've watched too many either go back to drinking again, commit suicide or just plan suffer. The Steps changed my life and gave me freedom. Sitting in meetings was a temporary solution. A reprieve of sorts. The Steps, I have found offer more permanent peace. Continued Grace in our journeys.
